My Practice and Process

My name is Anita Carroll, BSC (Hons) Psych, Dip Couns,  and I am a qualified therapist, specialised in Person-Centred Therapy - a widely respected, evidence-based approach that places you at the centre of your own therapeutic journey. This approach is founded on the principle that every individual has the capacity for personal growth, self-understanding , and positive change when provided with the right environment. I bring a deeply empathic approach to my work because I’ve lived through many of the challenges I now support others with. My own journey gives me a genuine understanding of how overwhelming life can feel, and I offer a safe, compassionate space where you’re truly heard and understood.

How I Work

At Becoming You Counselling, I offer a calm, genuine and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever feels important. As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you already hold the answers within you — my role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, support and gentle guidance as you navigate your way forward.

You choose the pace and the focus of our sessions. I listen, reflect and help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, so you can reconnect with your own strengths and move toward the version of yourself you want to become.

While my work is not limited to these areas, I have a strong interest in:

  • Understanding Addiction: for Those Affected and their supporters.

  • Mental health challenges: Addressing conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress.

  • Self-awareness: Encouraging personal growth and understanding of one's own thoughts and feelings.

  • Personal development: Supporting individuals in achieving their goals and improving self-efficacy
  • Navigating neurodiversity both personally and with family members/partners
  • Menopause counselling support for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause, and for those supporting a loved one through it
  • Relationship issues: Supporting those in resolving conflicts and improving communication within relationships
  • Working with 18 to 25 year olds with complex needs
  • Support for Individuals Experiencing Unusual Phenomena

Booking a free, no obligation phone consultation allows you to discover how I work and ask any questions you have before deciding if I'm the right fit for you.
